I did the consolation block that came with the applique block of the month! It is a quick and easy one, makes you feel as if you have accomplished something! I am now halfway though the pieced blocks. It is nice to think that next Christmas, I will have all the squares done for two Christmas quilts!
I also made this art folder for a young girl on my Christmas list. It has a pocket for a notebook or drawing pad, a chalkboard cloth piece, and a pocket to hold the chalk and sponge. On top of the pocket for the notebook, there is room for crayons or markers. This young lady likes to write and draw in her "journal", so colored pencils seemed just right!
I am machine quilting a pretty blue and soft green quilt right now. It is bordered in gorgeous lakehouse hydrangea fabric. Each time I machine quilt, I seem to do it better, and easier. I have found that the slider sheet on my machine bed works wonders. This time I combined some stippling with a loop- de- loop in the sashing, and 9 patch squares. It's looking pretty good. I have to admit, it's not my favorite thing to do, right now my neck is tied in knots, lol. Pictures soon.....
I hope you all had a good weekend, and maybe you managed to get some sewing time in.Are any of you making gifts for Christmas? We would love to hear about what you are making, or planning to make. I saw Trisha on TLC stitches is knitting some gorgeous socks.
Ladies of the evening are all working on their squares for "Little Doris". This is for the comfort quilt we are making to send to her . We decided to go for pastel "scrappy" blocks, with a white strip in the middle to write her a message, or just sign our name. Mine will have some strips with cats on it. There is a reason for that! I will tell you my cat story with Doris when I get my block done...so stay tuned.......
