Lady of the Evening Kathie was reminding me to update my blog. Well, I have been working on a secret project, so I can't show that. Above is the pillow that I made for Kathie to go with her new couch. I have not made many things in black/white, but I really love the crispness of the two colors together. I used the pillow cover to practice my free motion quilting. It really is true that practice makes all the difference in getting better at it! I find evey time I do some, It gets a little easier.
Speaking of the "ladies of the evening", five of us had a great sewing day on super bowl sunday. Tumbleweeds Quilts, in west Barnstable, Ma, was kind enough to let us use their classroom. We worked on projects, gabbed and laughed the afternoon away. In between, we could go and shop around their store. Then, we headed to olive garden where we all had an early dinner, and were home for kickoff, for those that wanted to watch the game. I did take a couple of pics, but they are still in the camera.
Below is a pic I forgot to show you. I bought this little "mug rug" pattern in an etsy shop, and made a couple of these for gifts. It is a simple project, but useful too. A nice addition is a DD card inside the mug, or a package of hot choclate mix. You could always fill the big mug with some K cups too.
I actually got a couple of mug rugs for a gift from lady of the evening, Jackie. I will try to remember to get some pics. Heads up Peggy and Kathie, great gift ideas for NEXT year, heee hee, or also for your table at the quilt show. Stay tuned...I am bound and determined to make some projects with the huge bag of 2 1/2" strips I have left over from many projects.
