When cleaning in my sewing room, I came across this huge bag of 2 1/2" strips.
At the price of fabric these days, I just can't bear to throw them away.
I decided to whip up these potholders/hot pads. I used 2 ten" squares of heat resistant batting, I used the flip and sew method to sew the strips to the batting. I then used the pillow turn method to attach the backing, turned it right side out, put in a loop, and sewed around the edge, once on the very edge, and about a half inch in.
Voila! A nice thick potholder, or table pad. I think when I feel like doing a quick project, I will whip up a couple of these, and put them away to tuck into christmas or birthday gift bags. If you have any good ideas for using these strips, please send me a pic! I would love to see them.
Great idea, like you said fabric isn't cheap and we need even more now to use it to it's best advantage. Love the pot holders and mats. Thank you for sharing.

I was just thinking about the same thing, both needing potholders and needing to use some strips. Thanks for reminding me.
