Two little girls named Raelynn and Riley stopped by for Trick or Treating! They looked so adorable. Riley was Minnie Mouse, and Raelynn was a Black Cat, or Panther, not sure, lol. I thought their new brother Camden would like to come out for trick or treating too....but he must be very content in there, he was a no show! Happy halloween everyone!!!

Ssshhhhhhhhh Christmas gift for baby Camden................
Isn't this the cutest? These kits are on sale this week at Joann's. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the brown is the softest minkee, there is flannel, and cotton. One square had all dog words written on it,another has paw prints. There is another square with dog treats, and the backing is soft flannel with paw prints and leashes all over it. the big panel is all different puppies! This quilt is for a Christmas gift baby Camden, who is NOT here YET! Wouldn't you think he would like to come out and be wrapped up in this nice soft quilt?
These quilts are perfect for car seats, strollers, and drag-around quilts. I try to keep a couple on hand for when someone has a baby. I have made princess, and teddies as well. They also have some for older children with sparkly fabrics, and older themes. These make great tv quilts. The kits come with everything but the batting. If a lightweight quilt is desired, you can leave the batting out. I like the shape that the batting gives. I also added my own binding, they suggest pillow turn to finish. I have two more ready to sew, another doggie one, and a teddy quilt in soft yellow and baby blue.
I am still working on the two scrap quilts, I have all of the rectangles done for the one that is in purple, blue, and green. The friendship braid now has two strips................ so stay tuned..............................

Cuddle quilts, Joann Fabrics
Don't you love this little quilt? I have made them for both granddaughters. They are small, about 30"x36", but perfect size for the car seat, or stroller. They are tactile quilts, the fabrics are minkee, satin, flannel, and cotton. My granddaughters drag them around, and really seem to like them. I made this one for a friend of Bills who recently has a new grandson! (The pic isn't great, Bill had to take it with his phone.) The green is minkee, the squares are satin and flannel.I just got two more of the kits, one is in yellow and blue teddy bears, and the other is priceless! It is puppy fabric, dog bone fabric, and the backing is flannel with dog leashes all over it! They are cut out, I hope to sew them soon. Joannes has the kits on sale right now. They include everything you need, other than batting. The directions call for pillow turn, so you don't even need binding, or you could add your own from those 2 1/2" strips you've been saving! I hope Karen's grandson enjoys his new quilt!
I haven't done much sewing this week, but I am working on two quilts made from those 2 1/2" strips, so stay tuned....also the hairy armed name drawer will do his thing later today and draw a name for the "Beachcomber" table runner kit!

Another journal...............
I made another journal cover, this one for me! I found this free spirit fabric in my favorite colors. How do you like the BIG button, lol. I made a loop of 1/4" elastic to loop around the button for a closure. I am still taking names for the giveaway. Friendship Braid
I found this pattern in a jelly roll book. I cut up all my pretty fabrics. into 2 1/2" strips. Then you have to cut those strips into trapezoids and reverse trapezoids. Well the cutting is a pain in the butt, especially since you need a certain ruler, of course one I didn't have.................. The good thing is, once these silly trapezoids are cut, it is a really easy quick quilt to sew together. Here is the first braid. I will show more as I go along. The first braid looks ok, but it really came together when I placed the second braid next to it. This is either going to be a king sized quilt for a bed, or two throw sized quilts, I just haven't decided.Stay tuned.........barb
World's slowest knitter.........................
It seems like a year ago that I started this baby sweater, and now the baby is almost here! Thank God I realized how slow of a knitter I am, and made it size 1. I bought the cutest little pair of blue jeans to go with it for baby Camdens Christmas present. (Go ahead Peggy and Kathie, you know you want to ROLL those eyes, lol). I may decorate the jeans if I can find a cute applique for them. I wish you could feel this sweater, it is very soft, kind of like Minkee. It will be warm and snuggly when he grows into it.

Doo wop concert..............
Top photo is the "Tune Weavers. Next pic was a Ray Charles impersonator, that was unbelievably talented! He had every move down pat! Next photo is the Mystics...they didn't need any background music...they had beautiful voices! The last picture is of one of the original members of the Tune Weavers, Damn she looked good! Ron Mcphatter was a fabulously talented man...his parents were the Drifters. It was worth going to the show just to hear him sing. Billy Davis was there, and many others. At the end they all came together on stage and sing one song together. It was such fun...
If you are my age, you aren't scratching your head right now saying"what the hell is doo wop"?. Bill and I have been going to these concerts just as often as we can! The other night we went with 8 friends to see this one! It is truly amazing to me , to see musicians well into their 60's and 70's still doing what they love. Having been around musicians all my life, I have always realized, music to them is like air to us...a necessity.They are transformed when they do what they love so much.
I am always struck by their appearance, and their graciousness. They perform FOR their audiences. At intermission, they wander around, talking to people, and enjoying the fact that their audience is having a great time. All these old songs brought back a lot of memories. I am always reminded oh how fast the time goes...and in the words of Sam Cooke.."I haven't had this much fun since I don't know when, and I may never feel this way again...Let the good times roll"......Barb
