My sewing room is lonely, there hasn't been much activity there. But...I did , FINALLY, after 14 months of working my little fingers to the bone...finish this quilt!
It was a tremendous amount of work, but I am glad I did make it. I did it by "block of the month". I really did finish one block each month. It is the only way to actually finish something of this intensity. I think there ought to be a medal just for completing!
It is all hand appliqued' and hand quilted. I hope it will be passed down in my family! For now it is at the Barstable County Fair, behing exhibited this week. Do they have a category for perseverance? i think I would win!
I have some gorgeous batiks waiting to be sewn into a table runner. I also have the altenate pieced Christmas blocks that I did along with the above quilt....waiting....... It is a busy time of year, and the summer is way too short. So...I will grab a few sewing hours soon....stay tuned, and enjoy the HEAT!
It is gorgeous. I can hardly wait to see it in the flesh at the fair. You get a gold medal from me for both your perseverance and your wonderful work. Good luck.

WOW!!! Talk about "Christmas in July" :-) That looks spectacular, Barb! Absolutely BEAUTEOUS! Folks at the Barnstable Fair had better guard this one with their life! And, I agree with Doris...gold medal and CONGRATS to you for such a great personal achievement and for treating all of us eye-rollers out in blog land! Love it!

Barb - That is beautiful!!! What a great accomplishment. I would be afraid to let it out of my sight. You should have one of those chips sewn into it! I hope to see it in person some day. :)

Would you be willing to sell the pattern only for the Night Before Christmas quilt? If so, please let me know--I have mounds of fabric and just want the pattern :-)

I was hoping you could tell me where to get this pattern please. What a fabulous quilt and I can appreciate the tremendous effort it would be to make. I live in Tasmania Australia and just love making anything to do with christmas.
